This paper examines the emergent phenomenon of consensual digital content creation by women in agrarian villages of Andhra Pradesh, moving beyond the Orientalist framing of ‘victimhood’. Analyzing ethnographic data from three districts (West Godavari, Anantapur, and Srikakulam) between 2020-2024, we argue that the mobile phone has become a tool for negotiating lifestyle aspirations, entertainment, and social capital.
