After graduating from university, Shiina began working as a game developer at a small studio in Tokyo. In 2005, she co-founded MAGES., an independent game development studio focused on creating visual novels and adventure games. Shiina served as the studio's director and lead writer, helping to develop the company's flagship series, Danganronpa.
