Through an analysis of its narrative arcs, character archetypes (the long-suffering heroine, the emasculated hero, the transactional matriarch), and visual aesthetics, this paper explores how the series navigates themes of marital coercion, financial abuse, and the illusion of female agency. Ultimately, the paper posits that the serial’s “strangeness” lies not in its plot, but in its attempt to reconcile modern production values with regressive social ideologies.
