SolidWorks operates on a service pack schedule. After major annual releases, the first iteration is (Service Pack 0). This is the initial, "as-shipped" version of the software. It is often the least stable, as subsequent SPs (SP1, SP2, up to SP5) fix bugs, improve stability, and patch security vulnerabilities. SP0 is sought after primarily for two reasons:
